sacredfront-copy.jpg - 41700 Bytes Sacred Steps in Spain, an exhibit celebrating the experience of modern pilgrims from the United States and Canada on the paths to Santiago de Compostela, Spain opens August 2nd at the Participation Gallery.

The images in this exhibition capture on film and canvas the visions the contributing artists gathered along their own pilgrimages across Spain to the supposed tomb of St. James, or Sant Iago over much the same paths medieval pilgrims traveled eleven centuries ago.

Contemporary pilgrims seek to express their sense of wonder at both the monumental and mundane aspects of the journey and to communicate in art something of their inner pilgrimages as well as the outer landscapes.

SLIDE LECTURE & WINE TASTING
Featured will be the watercolors of Eric Doud, Winters architect , who will also give a slide talk about the Camino de Santiago at the Gallery on August 16th., at 7 pm.

The Sacred Steps exhibit, sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs of the Embassy of Spain and the Xunta de Galicia has toured all over the U.S . This will be the only showing in Northern California.

All are heartily welcomed to the opening reception, August 2nd, 4:30 to 6:30 at the Participation Gallery.
